Garage doors are a simple add-on to a busy household. They should be shouldn’t they? You come home from work in the rain or snow and you don’t need to hustle out of the car so you can haul it up only to get back in the driving seat and drive the thing inside. Life’s too short to be messing around. So the clever people who think of these things invented a motor to open it for you.
Sensible that. And for the first few weeks it’s a pleasant luxury. You might giggle a bit each time you press the button and the door slowly rises and rotates into the ceiling. Then you get past the magic and it becomes an everyday event. Something you don’t think about.
But it’s the nature of technology that it fails every now and again. Life’s like that and those nameless motors that haul up the garage door are no different. Age and continued use serve to erode the parts until one day, usually during a particularly inconvenient moment, something fails and it’s no good anymore.
Has that happened to you?
Maybe you’re in Newhaven, Connecticut, or East Haven, Ansonia or Bradford. You could be in Guilford, but everywhere it’s snowing. It’s seven degrees under and the last thing you want to do is get out of your nicely heated car, fix your hands to a blast-chilled garage door and attempt to force it open.
And now, having heated your hands in front of the fire, you’re loosening your fingers on the keyboard searching for a replacement or a repair. You don’t want to be doing that do you. But if you have to, you’ll want to find something that’s as good as or better than that piece of nameless metal that’s stranded on your garage ceiling serving no useful purpose.
You’ll need to know what type of motor it is, a belt drive opener maybe. What’s the brand? HP possibly. Then you start to wonder about prices and deals. You obviously want to get some money off, there’s always a sale on somewhere. $125 off, that sounds like a great deal.
But wouldn’t it be great if they came at a moment’s notice. Your car’s stuck outside. Or even inside. You’re fretting about getting to work tomorrow morning. The weatherman says there’s going to be a foot of snow tonight. You know you’ll have to clear the drive and you really don’t want to have to wrestle with that retched door again.
You don’t want any of that. You need somebody out now, a 24 hour service. They’ll be dressed for it; they’ll have all the equipment and know-how. They’ll know exactly what’s wrong and they’ll fix it. Or they’ll tell you it’s gone past the point and you’ll need a new one. An HP Belt Drive Opener’, he’ll say. I’ve got one in the van.’
That’s what you need at a moment like that. Garage door experts. Somebody from New haven ideally because they’ll know the roads. Or at least where the roads used to be until the snow came.
