Project Management Professional Discussion forumsIt is a known fact for us that Automation testing will shorten Development cycles, improves software quality and avoid cumbersome repetitive tasks, but there is another fact “Success in any Test Automation lies in identifying the right and the best tool for automation”
HP Unified Functional Testing (UFT) is the dominant commercial player in the software industry . One of its Added Advantage is its user friendly structure and compatibility with windows and other web-based applications.
The pros of UFT:
? Object repository is one of the greatest features for The HP-UFT that suffices a need to be component oriented. This tool works at its best when it comes to result validation, reports and navigation.
? An Organization need not worry about the integration of QTP with other supporting components.
? Since its primary language is “VB script” and tools being power packed with many features , The organization need not worry to have if they lack “super Skilled” coders who write the basic automation script.
? It has “add-ons” which gives flexibility to test service virtualization and Web Services.
? As QTP is integrated with Quality Center, Different high quality dashboards can be Configured.
? In case you get into any technical issue there will always be different types and levels of support to help you round the clock.
Cons (the other side of the coin):
? The price issue for any commercial tool is very common, but its license is too costly and depends on volume and type of license .On top of this we need to pay again if we need more add-ons. So this is what people say “ money speaks”.
? The license cost is not done if purchased once, it has to be renewed after a
? certain period of me with new features and technologies to meet the demands of a competitive industry.
? Organisation has to upgrade its UTP tool because if the other applications are upgraded without upgrading QTP , And so it is technically impossible to support automation and all the bucks spent on softwares will go waste.
