New York: Rebecca School, a school for children with neurodevelopment delays, has recently received a large donation from IDW comics for the school’s comic book club, adding to its collection of comic books. IDW Comics was founded as the publishing division of Idea and Design Works, LLC. It has been recognized as the fourth-largest comic book publisher in the United States. IDW comics was started in 1999 and since then it has been publishing popular stories like Ghostbusters, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, G.I Joe, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Dr. Who, just to name a few.Earlier, in February 2013, IDW Publishing started its partnership with the Cartoon Network to publish comics based on the network's popular television series and to reprint older Cartoon Network comics. Popular cartoon network shows like the Power puff Girls, Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends, Codename Kids Next Door and Ben 10 has been reshaped into comic books by IDW comics. This contribution from IDW comics has brought much excitement to the School’s Comic Book Club. It provides a unique opportunity for students from various classes to come together in a group and share their passion for the comic books and other related, fun topics and hobbies. The discussions on cartoons and science fiction at the weekly meetings will surely be more engaging. Via the book club, students are exposed to new stories, new characters and superhero fantasies. The comic club projects allow the students involved to work on various projects. Among other related activities, the students create artworks and paintings based on their favourite characters from the comic books.
Over the years the comic club has participated in many group experiences. These experiences included both field trips to comic book related events as well as welcoming guests from the comic book and cartoon industries. These type of event allow the students to interact, discuss and create various projects based on their favourite characters and stories.
