freePRnow.com, 9/06/2013 - The much talked about project to renovate the Huntington Long Island station is nearing its completion, as is learnt. The 1ST phase of the renovation of the Huntington Long Island Rail Road station’s South Parking concrete garages is nearing completion.

The 1200 spot parking garage work was expected to be completed at the end of the August month or the first week of September 2013. A.J. Carter, the spokesman of the Huntington town said, that the project’s aim was to make repairs to rehabilitate a structure of 25 years old.

The Contract for this work was awarded to DESMAN associates for $12,000 increased compensation by the city’s Town board. Reportedly, the town has 2 parking garages, called the north and the south garages, at the Huntington LIRR station where the commuters can also park in the parking at the station. The south garage has the capacity to hold 1200 cars.

Work on the garage project had been delayed due to cold weather conditions last winter, according to both Carter and the Town Board resolution authorizing the contract change. The original timeframe called for the work to be completed in six months, instead of the 10 months it has now taken. The project was divided into 2 phases.
