Orlando, FL – April 17, 2012 – In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get stuck in a bad routine and lose sight of the importance of your health. In fact, workers who sit at a desk for most of the day are 54 percent more likely to have a heart attack than those who are less sedentary. So how can you prevent health issues like heart attacks due to inactivity? Local staffing firm Kavaliro is embracing a new company culture focused on employee health thanks to Florida Hospital’s Healthy 100 Company Pilot Program. The program brings Florida Hospital’s resources and expertise to local businesses to help create a culture of wellness at the workplace. Florida Hospital’s Healthy 100 initiative provides a new outlook on health care by creating a culture of health and wellness in the community. Healthy 100 encourages the community to live to a healthy 100 years of age by taking care of their mind, body and spirit.
Kavaliro is an adopter of the movement to ensure its workers know the facts about nutrition, exercise and more so they can live to a healthy 100-years-old. Events are scheduled over the next six months to provide employees beneficial fitness information without having to leave the office. Events are not required but highly recommended.
“We began with a kick-off lunch and learn about living heart healthy where we introduced our cardio challenge for the IOA 5k in downtown Orlando where our ladies team received 2nd place overall in the miscellaneous category and the our men’s team finished in 6th place,” said Kavaliro’s Community Relations Director Lisa Moore. “The winner of our cardio challenge won a new pair of Nike shoes!”
Multiple lunch and learns will be held to discuss topics ranging from stress management to nutrition and weight loss. Employees have the option to de-stress with an in-office massage and to work with a personal trainer to set individual fitness goals.
By providing its staff with opportunities to be active and healthy, Kavaliro is bound to see workplace benefits.
“Employees’ energy levels will surely rise, boosting productivity in the office,” Moore said. “And since everyone will be working together toward the same goal, company morale should simultaneously sky-rocket.”
Kavaliro’s efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle in and out of the workplace are an integral part of the company’s core values. It works hard to ensure that employees are happy and healthy and working toward active and nutritious goals.
