Kenya news: Media Shutdown in Kenya
Kenyan media has shut down in protest to digital migration.

freePRnow.com, 2/16/2015 - Kenya Media shutdown by the Kenyan Government. Royal media, Nation Media and Standard media Tv stations have been shutdown by the government.

Kenya media shutdown started to take effect early Saturday morning 14th February 2015. The Kenyan media shutdown deadline has been in the courts whereby they the Kenyan media houses have been challenging the government migration directive.

Kenya Media shutdown: The Kenyan government had set the media migration from analogue signal to the digital to be on 31st December 2014 but the direction was halted by the Kenyan courts. In Kenya there are many television stations but some of them are still on analogue broadcast.

Early this year, their digital signal license was taken away because Kenya media which include NTV, KTN and Citizen under the banner African Digital Network had run an abusive advertisement towards other pay television GoTv and Startimes.

The three media claimed that, the two pay Tv companies which are GoTv Kenya and Startimes Kenya were broadcasting their content without consent and they cautioned the Kenyan television viewers not to purchase the two pay Tv set top boxes.

Since the digital migration in Kenya, there has been a surge of Pay tv companies and also free to air TV. Some of the free to air companies include the African Digital Network a company that houses NTV, KTN, Citizen and Bamba Tv which is under the Radio Africa banner.
