For several centuries, scientists were puzzled about the Moai mystery. It was an unsolved panel how the colossal stone statues of Easter Island moved 11 miles from their place of construction. Moreover, these were the times when wheels, cranes, or even large animals were not used.Scientist came up with various theories, figuring the use of log rollers, ropes, and wooden sledges. However, now the Scientist Harry Coumnas has come up with a promising theory that the Moai were engineered to move (upright in a rocking motion) using ropes and manpower.
Harry Coumnas observed that their fat belly allowed the statues to tilt forward easily and heavy āDā shaped bases might have allowed rolling the Moai side to side. An experiment where 18 people were used with three strong ropes could move 10 foot, 5-ton Moai replica without the help of logs. Thus, this experiment solved the Moai mystery.
