Last month, “Sorrow” was selected by the Hulu network for multi-platform, online streaming beginning in May. The movie will be available on both the regular streaming service as well as its premium service, Hulu Plus.Millie Loredo, President of FilmsVerité Productions, said the decision was especially meaningful because Vannessa Vasquez, who plays Mila Sweeney in the film, also stars is Hulu’s original series “East Los High.” The series is currently in its second season on Hulu, and she will reprise her role in the slated third season.
Online streaming has become a new path to distribution for independent films like “Sorrow,” and Loredo couldn’t be happier for the film to become a part of the ever-growing Hulu network.
“Twice as many viewers watch Hulu than the five major TV networks combined,” she said. “There was a total of 38 million people who watched Hulu at least once in the past year alone.”
“Sorrow” premieres at the River Oaks Theater at 2009 West Gray St. as well as online Tuesday, April 21. It will be available on the Hulu network as well as Amazon Prime. The film follows the story of Mila Sweeney, a young woman who is kidnapped and tortured but manages to escape in order to enact her own personal vengeance.
