The mysterious data leak issue came into notice in the month of January this year through the blog of Paul Thurott that discussed a number of high data usage cases. The Microsoft kept investigating the issue as it was hurting their reputation in the field of smartphone Operating System. Finally, with the help of Rafael Rivera, the company was able to find that there was a third party at fault, and the party was none other than the giant Yahoo! Rafael Rivera revealed that Yahoo was sending 25 percent more IMAP packets than they need. Microsoft officially issued a statement on the last Monday that Yahoo was the company at fault of such data leakage.Windows Phone Operating System is itself quite a stable one, expert rate is as the best OS regarding data security. If you have a glance at statistics, you will be able to see a clear difference between Android OS and Windows OS. The mal attacks against Android OS are almost 80 percent successful and 0.7 percent against iOS, whereas, only 0.3 percent of attacks against Windows Phone OS are successful. However, if you use Folder Lock Windows Phone, it can reduce the success rate of attacks even further.
A very small number of users experienced the data over usage due to some technical issues between Windows Phone Mail client and Yahoo Mail. Yahoo officially apologized on CNET news.com
“Tens of millions of people check their Yahoo Mail from their mobile device each day, and we know they want their mobile mail experience to be fast, rich, and real-time. While our default settings on all mobile platforms realize this approach, we have determined that an inefficiency exists in the synchronization of e-mail between Windows Phone Mail clients and Yahoo Mail, which can result in larger than expected data usage for some users.”
The Microsoft was extra careful those days as they were about to release their new version of Windows Phone OS. Microsoft once again proved that they have produced the best OS for the computer and they can also do the same for the cell phones.
