A restaurant getting ready to open needs a long list of branded items, and most first-time owners have never ordered any of them before. 2LC Graphics has helped Houston business owners work through that list since 2003. Servers and bartenders often wear screen-printed tees. The shop offers water-based and discharge inks, which leave a softer print on the fabric and suit shirts that staff wear through long shifts. Managers and hosts tend to wear embroidered polos, and the same logo can go on aprons for the kitchen team. Screen printing orders start at 36 pieces. Embroidery has its own minimum, so the two counts aren't combined into one order. The company sends a proof for approval the next day, and most orders are finished in about two weeks.
The company's spokesperson described how these projects usually start. "Opening week is busy enough for any owner, so we like to handle the apparel early. We jump on a call with the owner or manager and talk through what each person on the floor needs to wear. Then we match the shirts and aprons, so the whole team looks like it belongs to the same place. Walking into a restaurant on opening night and seeing every server in the new logo is one of the best parts of this work for us."
Owners often order the smaller items at the same time. 2LC Graphics supplies koozies, coasters, printed menus, and business cards, and can design a logo for a business that doesn't have one yet. Window signs and a wrap for a catering van go through the same contact who handled the uniforms. The apparel comes from ten stocked brands. Owners can choose Port Authority or Nike polos for front-of-house staff and Carhartt workwear for the back-of-house team. The company works Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m and they make ordering custom apparel easy! Most orders can be handled completely online, through email—from choosing your apparel and discussing embroidery or printing options to approving your quote and mockup.
