La Quinta, California (March 20, 2013) – La Quinta Country Club, one of the most prestigious private La Quinta and Palm Springs golf clubs, is the place to be this April as it hosts the 43rd Annual Roadrunner Member-Guest Tournament.The tourney, in what has become a yearly tradition in one of the most recognized golf clubs around Palm Springs, will be held from April 3-6. Practice rounds and registration will be held on April 3 with the tournament proper to begin the following day. Tee times will commence on 8:30am.
The event is limited to 60 teams, and all entries must be received within March 25. April 1, 2013 handicap will apply with a maximum handicap of 36. The new Roadrunner Trophy is designed by widely recognized metal sculptor Henry Dupere of Humbolt, Arizona.
La Quinta Country Club is the winner of the "Best of the Best Private Golf Course" in the Coachella Valley for 2012-2013 by Palm Springs Life, and was ranked last year the 26th best course on Tour by PGA professionals.
Since 1964, the course has been the host of the Bob Hope Classic, renamed in 2012 as the Humana Challenge. This tournament brought attention, excitement, prestige, and international recognition to the club. The 2013 edition held in January was won by Brian Gay in a two-hole playoff against Charles Howell III and David Lingmerth.
Some of the personalities and celebrities that have been and are members of LQCC include President Gerald Ford, Governor Edmund P. Brown, and a host of other luminaries including professional sports figures Bob Rosburg and Chuck Knox, and entertainers Andy Williams and Clint Eastwood.
