Full spectrum CBD oil is the result of an extraction process that takes place on the entire plant, which means that the product contains a full range of cannabinoids compared to the single CBD isolate. But can we say that full spectrum CBD oil is more effective than CBD isolate? The research carried out by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, on animal guinea pigs tried to establish the different efficacy of the two products.
In tests conducted by the researchers, the CBD extract compared to the full spectrum solution was found to be less effective both before and after a certain dosage.
How was the study conducted?
The CBD extract was initially administered by injection with a dosage of 5 mg / kg proving to be moderately effective however when the dose was increased its effect waned.
The graph the researchers get is a bell curve, which means that the CBD extracted alone loses its effectiveness after a certain dose.
On the contrary, the results coming from the Full Spectrum CBD Oil show how the synergistic work of the cannabinodes has produced greater efficacy when the dosage was increased.
In the second test, in which the CBD and full spectrum extract were administered orally, the results obtained are almost similar to that of the first test, with the graph showing a peak concentration of CBD at 25 mg / kg only to lose all effectiveness when the dose increases.
Whole plant extract, on the other hand, showed more efficacy in relieving inflammation and pain as the dosage increased.
Conclusions
The conclusions of the research are that the whole plant extract, which contains a large amount of CBD along with other cannabinoids, proves to be much more effective in counteracting pain and inflammation, than a fully purified extract.
CBD vs drugs
Israeli researchers analyzed the results of purified CBD and full-spectrum extract versus traditional medications such as aspirin and tramadol. Aspirin had a moderate effect on tissue swelling, while tramadol had almost no effect.
On the contrary, the two cannabis samples were able to be effective in countering the swelling of the paw in a greater way than the two drugs.
Both drugs, on the other hand, proved to be more effective than cannabis extracts in counteracting the direct sensation of pain.
This study, according to the researchers, legitimizes the medical relevance of some cannabinoids, underlining the importance of treating certain ailments with the full spectrum of cannabinoids available.
Conclude by stating that cannabis extracts, CBD in particular, may be more effective in treating inflammation than traditional medications.
